Telangana Cheyutha Pension Applications Begin From Today

The Telangana government has started accepting applications for new pensions under the Cheyutha scheme from Saturday. Officials have clarified that eligible applicants can submit their forms continuously as there is no final deadline for the application process.

The government has decided to give special priority to certain groups while selecting beneficiaries. Single women and widows will be considered first, while toddy workers, handloom workers, filariasis patients and dialysis patients will also be eligible under the specified conditions. People suffering from thalassemia, sickle cell disease and haemophilia will also be considered for pension benefits.

Family income will play an important role in determining eligibility. In rural areas, families with an annual income below Rs 1.50 lakh can qualify for the pension. For applicants living in urban areas, the annual family income should be below Rs 2 lakh.

The government has also placed restrictions based on land ownership and employment status. People owning more than three acres of wetland or more than 7.5 acres of dryland will not be eligible. Government employees, public sector employees, private company employees, outsourced workers and contract employees have also been excluded from the scheme. Doctors, contractors and certain other professionals will also not qualify.

The eligibility rules further exclude owners of oil mills, rice mills, petrol pumps and rigs, along with their parents in the specified cases. People who are already receiving government pensions or freedom fighter pensions will not be given another Cheyutha pension. Owners of four wheelers and heavy vehicles will also be treated as ineligible.

Those who had applied for a Cheyutha pension earlier do not have to submit a new application. However, the government has advised them to confirm with the concerned officials whether their previous application remains in the official records. Panchayat secretaries will verify these details in rural areas, while ward officials will handle the verification process in urban locations.

New applicants can download the Cheyutha application form, fill in the required details and submit it to the designated authorities. In rural areas, forms can be submitted to panchayat secretaries or at Mandal Parishad offices. Urban applicants can submit their forms to bill collectors, ward officials or municipal commissioners.

Since the government has not fixed a final date for receiving applications, eligible people can apply without waiting for a specific closing date. Officials will examine the applications according to the prescribed eligibility rules before new pensions are sanctioned.
