Telangana EAPCET 2026 Counselling Ends With 80 Percent Engineering Seats Filled

The Telangana Department of Technical Education has completed the final phase of engineering seat allotment under EAPCET 2026, bringing the admission process to a close for government universities, private universities and engineering colleges across the state. While most available seats were filled, a sizeable number of vacancies continue to remain.

According to the official admission data, a total of 94,156 engineering seats were available for allotment this year. Of these, 75,054 seats, representing 80 percent, were successfully allotted, while 19,102 seats, nearly 20 percent, remained vacant after the completion of all counselling rounds.

During the final counselling phase, 35,096 candidates exercised web options, with 3,281 students securing seats through fresh allotments. Under the 10 percent Economically Weaker Sections reservation, 5,771 candidates received admissions.

Private universities recorded the strongest admission performance, filling 99 percent of their available engineering seats.

Private engineering colleges achieved an overall 80 percent seat occupancy.Government universities registered a comparatively lower 69 percent admission rate.

The Government Engineering College at Kosgi, the only government engineering college in the state, reported one of the lowest occupancies. Out of 214 available seats, only 45 seats were filled, resulting in an admission rate of 21 percent.

Computer science related programmes continued to attract the largest number of applicants.

Several specialized engineering programmes achieved 100 percent seat occupancy because of limited intake and growing student interest.

Traditional engineering disciplines recorded moderate admission levels.

Reporting Deadline
Candidates who have been allotted seats in the final counselling round must complete the admission process by August 7. The Department of Technical Education has instructed students to pay the prescribed admission fee and report in person to their allotted colleges before the deadline to confirm their seats.

Officials noted that the admission pattern once again reflects the continued preference among students for computer science and emerging technology programmes, while several traditional engineering branches continue to experience lower demand.
