Air India Flight from Phuket to Delhi Hit by Mid Air Turbulence Leaves Several Injured
An Air India flight travelling from Phuket to Delhi encountered unexpected turbulence during cruise forcing medical assistance for injured passengers while authorities began examining the incident after a safe landing.

An Air India flight operating between Phuket and Delhi experienced a sudden spell of severe turbulence during its journey, leaving several passengers and crew members with minor injuries. Although the incident caused panic inside the cabin, the aircraft completed its journey safely and landed in Delhi without further complications.
According to the airline, the turbulence occurred while the aircraft was cruising at its scheduled altitude. The unexpected disturbance briefly affected the aircraft’s altitude, prompting concern among those on board. Flight crew quickly responded to the situation and continued operating the flight safely until arrival.
After landing, medical teams stationed at the airport examined passengers and crew members who reported discomfort or minor injuries. A few individuals were taken to a nearby medical facility for precautionary evaluation, while the remaining passengers safely exited the aircraft.
Air India stated that passenger and crew safety remains its highest priority and confirmed that full assistance was being extended to those affected. The airline also said it is cooperating with the relevant authorities as part of the standard investigation into the turbulence event.
Several passengers described the experience as frightening, saying the aircraft encountered intense shaking without warning while many people were resting. The sudden movement reportedly caused some travellers to lose balance inside the cabin, resulting in minor injuries to passengers and crew.
Aviation experts note that turbulence can develop unexpectedly because of changing weather conditions or atmospheric disturbances. While such incidents are generally short lived, airlines continue to emphasize the importance of keeping seat belts fastened whenever passengers are seated, even when the seat belt sign is switched off.
