Hyderabad to Host Final BRICS Anti Corruption Meetings Under India Presidency

Hyderabad is preparing to host one of the most significant BRICS events under India’s 2026 presidency as senior representatives from member nations gather for two high level meetings on August 4 and 5. The sessions are expected to strengthen cooperation on combating corruption, improving governance and enhancing international coordination.

The Department of Personnel and Training under the Government of India is organizing the event, which includes the second meeting of the BRICS Anti Corruption Working Group and the second meeting of the BRICS Experts Network on Asset Recovery. Union Secretary Rachna Shah will formally inaugurate the conference.

Delegates attending the meetings include government officials, policymakers, legal experts, anti corruption agencies and law enforcement representatives from BRICS member countries. Discussions will focus on practical measures to improve collaboration in addressing corruption related crimes and strengthening institutional capacity.

One of the key priorities will be improving coordination in tracing and recovering illegally acquired assets across international borders. Member nations will also exchange ideas on identifying fugitives involved in corruption cases, improving information sharing and enhancing legal cooperation to support cross border investigations.

The conference will place special emphasis on emerging challenges in the digital economy. Experts are expected to deliberate on corruption risks linked to financial technology, digital assets and online transactions while exploring technology driven solutions that promote transparency, accountability and ethical governance.

A special side event on August 5 will focus on innovation and technology based governance. Participants will share experiences in digital public procurement, citizen engagement and modern governance practices that encourage greater transparency and public accountability.

Officials said the Hyderabad meetings will continue the discussions initiated during the virtual BRICS conference held in June. As the final major BRICS gathering under India’s presidency in 2026, the event is expected to lay the foundation for long term cooperation among member nations in anti corruption efforts, asset recovery and technology enabled governance.
