Hybrid Mutual Fund Turns Monthly SIP Into Nearly Rs 29 Lakh Wealth in 10 Years

A disciplined investment strategy through a Systematic Investment Plan has once again highlighted the power of long term wealth creation. Investors who consistently invested Rs 10000 every month in a hybrid mutual fund over the past decade have seen their investment grow into nearly Rs 28.89 lakh.

According to Value Research data, the Bank of India Mid and Small Cap Equity and Debt Fund has generated impressive returns for long term investors. A monthly SIP of Rs 10000 started 10 years ago required a total investment of Rs 12 lakh. Today, that investment has grown to around Rs 28.89 lakh, delivering an annualised XIRR of 16.76 percent.

The fund follows a hybrid investment strategy by combining equity and debt investments. This approach allows investors to benefit from the growth potential of the stock market while also maintaining a level of stability through fixed income securities. The balanced allocation helps reduce the impact of market volatility over the long term.

A major portion of the fund ranging from 65 percent to 80 percent is invested in mid cap and small cap companies that offer strong growth opportunities. The remaining 20 percent to 35 percent is allocated to debt instruments and money market securities, providing stability to the overall portfolio.

Between July 2016 and March 2026, the scheme recorded a compound annual growth rate of 13.2 percent. During the same period, the Nifty MidSmallcap 400 TRI delivered a CAGR of 15.4 percent, while the Nifty 100 TRI generated 11.7 percent.

Although mid cap and small cap investments generally carry higher risk, the combination of equity and debt in a hybrid fund can help investors manage market fluctuations more effectively. Regular SIP investments, supported by patience and long term commitment, have the potential to create significant wealth over time, as demonstrated by this fund’s performance.
