Maharashtra TET Paper Leak: Maharashtra TET Exam Postponed After Paper Leak

The Maharashtra government postponed the Teacher Eligibility Test after a question paper leak surfaced affecting more than four lakh candidates while police launched an investigation and arrested three suspects.

Maharashtra TET Paper Leak: The Maharashtra government has postponed the Teacher Eligibility Test after officials confirmed a suspected question paper leak just a day before the examination. The decision has left more than 4.28 lakh candidates waiting for a fresh schedule as authorities begin a detailed investigation.

The examination was scheduled to be conducted across the state on Sunday, with Paper One planned in the morning and Paper Two in the afternoon. Preparations had already been completed, and candidates were ready to appear at their allotted centres when the government announced the postponement.

According to the Maharashtra State Council of Examination, the leak was traced to the Bhiwandi area in Thane district. The Education Department said a new examination date would be announced soon. Candidates will not have to submit fresh applications or pay any additional examination fee. Fresh hall tickets will be issued once the revised schedule is released.

Officials said the investigation is also focused on determining whether the material recovered was the actual examination paper or a mock test version. Police teams have carried out searches at multiple locations as part of the ongoing probe.

Thane Additional Commissioner of Police Ashok Dudhe said the operation began after police received confidential information that some individuals were attempting to sell the TET question paper in the Kongaon area of Bhiwandi. Acting on the tip off, officers deployed a special team and used decoy buyers to trap the suspects.

Police arrested three accused after recovering what education officials later confirmed to be genuine TET question papers. Mobile phones, debit cards and credit cards were also seized during the operation. According to investigators, one suspect is from Haryana while the other two are from Bihar. Officials believe more people may be involved in the paper leak and efforts are continuing to identify the remaining accused.

The latest incident has once again raised concerns over examination security in the country, coming soon after the widely discussed NEET paper leak controversy.
