Former Maoist Leader Devji Secures Impressive Rank in Telangana LAWCET
Former Maoist leader Devji has earned a strong state rank in Telangana LAWCET, pursuing his dream of studying law and providing free legal assistance to underprivileged communities.

A remarkable success story emerged from the Telangana LAWCET results as former Maoist leader Tippiri Tirupati, popularly known as Devji, secured an impressive state rank and moved a step closer to his goal of becoming a legal professional.
Devji achieved the 349th rank in the Telangana Law Common Entrance Test, earning recognition for his determination and commitment to education. His achievement has drawn attention because of his unconventional journey from an armed movement background to pursuing higher studies in law.
What makes the accomplishment even more notable is that Devji recently appeared for a pending Intermediate Telugu examination after obtaining special permission from the education authorities. The results of that examination are expected to be announced soon.
Having scored 57 marks in the entrance test, Devji qualified for admission into a law course and now hopes to build a future in the legal profession. He has expressed a desire to use his legal education to provide free assistance to poor and disadvantaged sections of society who often struggle to access justice.
Earlier this year, Devji surrendered before the police and began focusing on rebuilding his life through education. He had originally studied MPC at Korutla Government Junior College during the early 1980s but could not complete all subjects at the time. Decades later, he returned to academics with renewed determination.
The Telangana LAWCET results released on Thursday recorded a strong overall performance. More than seventy three percent of candidates qualified for admissions under the convener quota. Out of 66,864 applicants, 54,374 appeared for the examination and 39,673 candidates secured the required qualifying marks.
Officials from the Telangana State Council of Higher Education also highlighted the diversity of successful candidates. Hundreds of individuals above sixty years of age qualified for various law programs, while thousands of engineering graduates also cleared the examination.
Among the many success stories from this year’s results, Devji’s achievement stands out as an example of perseverance and transformation. His journey reflects how education can open new opportunities and help individuals redefine their future regardless of their past.
