PM Modi Congratulates DK Shivakumar on Taking Oath as Karnataka Chief Minister
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes to DK Shivakumar after his swearing in as Karnataka Chief Minister and assured cooperation between the Centre and the state for public welfare.

DK Shivakumar officially assumed office as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka after taking the oath at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru. The oath was administered by Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot in the presence of senior political leaders and party members.
A notable moment during the ceremony was Shivakumar taking the oath while holding a copy of the Constitution. Senior Congress leader G Parameshwara was also sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister on the same stage.
Soon after the ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Shivakumar on becoming the Chief Minister of Karnataka. In a message shared on X, Modi wished him success in his tenure and expressed hope that his leadership would benefit the people of the state.
The Prime Minister also stated that the Central Government would work closely with the Karnataka Government for the welfare and development of the state’s citizens, highlighting the importance of cooperation between both administrations.
The leadership change comes as part of an internal power sharing understanding within the Congress party. Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stepped down from the post on May 28, paving the way for Shivakumar to take charge of the state government.
An eight time MLA, DK Shivakumar now leads Karnataka at a crucial stage. The swearing in ceremony was attended by top Congress leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and KC Venugopal, reflecting the significance of the transition within the party.
