Telangana Seeks Major Financial Push From Centre for Development Projects

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka urged the Centre to provide additional financial support for Telangana and requested exemptions for education projects to accelerate development initiatives across the state.

The Telangana government has stepped up its efforts to secure additional financial support from the Centre to speed up development and welfare programs across the state. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka requested an extra Rs 5000 crore under the Special Assistance Scheme for Capital Investment, stating that the funding would help strengthen infrastructure and support key public projects.

During his visit to New Delhi on Wednesday, Bhatti Vikramarka met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and discussed the state’s financial requirements. He highlighted Telangana’s plans to strengthen infrastructure and make significant investments in the education sector.

Bhatti also appealed to the Centre to exempt loans taken for education related projects from the state’s FRBM limits. According to him, such a move would allow Telangana to move ahead with educational development projects without creating additional pressure on borrowing restrictions.

Apart from financial issues, the Deputy Chief Minister also held discussions regarding industrial development. He informed the Centre that Singareni is ready to move toward coal gasification projects as part of the national focus on modern coal based technologies.

He further requested support from Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy for technical guidance, policy level assistance, and integration with central government schemes to help advance coal gasification initiatives in Telangana.
