Kishan Reddy Meeting Gives Hyderabad Metro Phase Two Major Push

Hyderabad Metro Phase Two received a major boost after discussions between Kishan Reddy and Manohar Lal, with the Centre showing positive support for project expansion plans.

Residents of Hyderabad may soon have another reason to celebrate as the long awaited Metro Phase Two project has moved a step closer to reality. The latest discussions between Union leaders have created positive momentum for the expansion project and raised hopes for improved urban transport connectivity.

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy met Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and held detailed discussions regarding the Hyderabad Metro Rail second phase expansion. Following the meeting, positive signals emerged regarding the future of the project.

According to officials, the Centre has given in principle approval for the prestigious project and both the Central and Telangana governments are prepared to move forward with equal cost sharing. Reports suggest that the expenditure for the project may be shared on a fifty fifty basis between both governments.

Manohar Lal Khattar reportedly stated that there are no major technical hurdles standing in the way of Metro Phase Two. He indicated that reviewing the existing Detailed Project Report would be enough to take the process forward without significant delays.

The project has remained an important issue for Telangana after the state government recently took over Hyderabad Metro responsibilities from L and T. Following that move, the state sought financial participation from the Centre for the next phase of expansion.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka had earlier raised the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union ministers. Along with those efforts, Kishan Reddy’s latest discussions appear to have strengthened the chances of moving the project ahead.

The successful meeting has now cleared a major path for Hyderabad Metro Phase Two, and official orders from the Centre are expected in the coming period.
