RAF Fairford: Five men have been arrested near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire after police received information about three suspicious vans travelling towards the military airbase in the early hours of Sunday. The incident began when a local woman noticed the three white vans while returning home near Whelford. Their movement caught her attention, particularly because security around the airbase had already been increased. She turned around and followed the vehicles for some distance before seeing several masked people leave the vans and move towards nearby fields and wooded areas.

The woman then contacted police. Armed officers arrived in the area and arrested five men. The suspects were initially detained over alleged offences under the Explosives Act and were later held on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act.
