Disha Salian Case Notice: A fresh legal development has brought the Disha Salian death case back into focus, with her father Satish Salian issuing a Rs 500 crore legal notice to Shiv Sena UBT leader Aaditya Thackeray and former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh. The notice seeks damages over statements that Satish says damaged his reputation and questioned his pursuit of justice.

Satish Salian has also demanded an unconditional public apology from both leaders. According to the notice, the apology should be carried by major print, television and digital media platforms and also published through their official social media accounts. The notice gives the leaders seven days to respond to the demands.

The dispute comes as the six year old case has entered a new phase. The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered an FIR following the Bombay High Court’s intervention and is examining the circumstances surrounding Disha Salian’s death. The CBI has also listed several people whose roles require investigation.

Disha Salian, who had worked as a manager for late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a high rise building in Mumbai. Her death occurred just days before Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his residence. The two cases have been repeatedly discussed together in public and political debates, although the circumstances of each death remain matters for investigation.

Satish initially did not express suspicion about a criminal angle in his daughter’s death. He later approached the Bombay High Court seeking a fresh investigation and raised allegations concerning several people. His legal action eventually led to renewed scrutiny of the case and the current CBI probe.

The latest notice specifically objects to statements that, according to Satish, portrayed his efforts as politically motivated. The notice also challenges claims that the case had already been investigated by the CBI and that certain individuals had received a clean chit. Satish has described such statements as damaging to his credibility and reputation.

Anil Deshmukh is also named in the notice. Satish has referred to a statement attributed to Deshmukh in March 2025, in which the Disha Salian matter was described as a conspiracy to defame Aaditya Thackeray. Satish argues that such comments presented his legal efforts in a negative light.

Aaditya Thackeray has rejected the allegations against him. He has publicly said that he never met or knew Disha Salian and has described the allegations linking him to the case as politically motivated and unsupported by evidence. He has also said that the official investigation should proceed without what he called attempts at character assassination.

The CBI investigation is now expected to examine earlier police records, witness statements and forensic material as part of its fresh probe. The agency has also named Aaditya Thackeray, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi and Rhea Chakraborty among the people whose roles are to be examined, according to reports on the FIR. Being named for investigation does not by itself establish wrongdoing.

With the legal notice and the new CBI investigation developing at the same time, the Disha Salian case has once again become a major subject of public attention. The allegations made by different sides remain disputed, while the ongoing investigation is expected to establish what can be supported by evidence.
