Tirumala Brahmotsavam 2026 Begins with Grand Devotional Celebrations

Tirumala is ready for the annual Brahmotsavam of Lord Venkateswara, with the nine day celebrations beginning today. The temple town is expected to welcome a large number of devotees during the festival, and the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has made arrangements for the expected rush.

The celebrations will officially begin in the evening with the Dhwajarohanam ceremony. Priests will hoist the Garuda flag on the temple flagstaff while Vedic chants and traditional musical instruments fill the surroundings. The ceremony is considered an important part of the Brahmotsavam as it marks the formal invitation of the deities to the festival.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will also visit Tirumala and offer silk clothes to Lord Venkateswara on behalf of the state government. The offering is part of the traditional practice associated with the annual Brahmotsavam.

The first vahana procession is scheduled for tonight at 9 pm. Malayappa Swamy, accompanied by Sridevi and Bhudevi, will appear on the Pedda Sesha Vahana and move through the four mada streets around the temple. Devotees gathered along the procession route will have an opportunity to witness the decorated deity.

The festival will continue for nine days, with Lord Venkateswara appearing in different ceremonial forms on 16 vahanas. Each procession carries its own religious significance and draws devotees who gather around the mada streets for darshan.

Among the events attracting the most attention are Garuda Seva, Rathotsavam and Chakrasnanam. Garuda Seva is particularly important for devotees and is expected to bring a major increase in the number of visitors to Tirumala.

The festival atmosphere is expected to be especially vibrant as Govinda Nama Smaranam echoes across the hill town. Devotees from different parts of India and abroad are expected to make their way to Tirumala during the celebrations.

Managing such a large gathering is one of the biggest responsibilities for TTD during Brahmotsavam. Officials have arranged drinking water, Annaprasadam and medical services for devotees. Security arrangements have also been strengthened around the temple and along the routes used for the vahana processions.

TTD officials are closely monitoring arrangements to reduce inconvenience for pilgrims during the busy festival days. Crowd movement, darshan arrangements and other facilities are being coordinated to handle the expected number of visitors.

The coming days will bring a series of important religious ceremonies and processions, keeping Tirumala busy throughout the festival. Devotees will get opportunities to witness Lord Venkateswara in different vahana forms as the celebrations progress.

The annual Brahmotsavam remains one of the most significant events in the Tirumala calendar. With the Dhwajarohanam marking the beginning today, the hill shrine is set for nine days of worship, processions and devotional celebrations.
