SSC CHSL 2026 Offers 2,536 Central Government Jobs
The SSC CHSL 2026 recruitment offers 2,536 central government vacancies for eligible candidates who have completed Class 12, with applications open until October 7 this year.
Looking for a government job after Intermediate can be a practical option for many young candidates. The Staff Selection Commission has now opened the application process for its Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination 2026.
This year, SSC plans to fill 2,536 posts through the recruitment. The vacancies will be distributed among central ministries, departments, offices, tribunals and other government establishments.
Candidates will be considered for posts such as Lower Division Clerk, Junior Secretariat Assistant, Data Entry Operator and Grade A Data Entry Operator.
The qualification is mainly Class 12. However, there is a small difference depending on the post. For DEO and DEO Grade A vacancies in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, SSC and the Ministry of Culture, candidates should have passed Class 12 in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.
For the remaining LDC, JSA, DEO and DEO Grade A posts, candidates with Class 12 or an equivalent qualification can apply.
Age is another requirement applicants need to check carefully. Candidates should normally be between 18 and 27 years old as on October 1. The notification also provides relaxation for reserved categories. OBC candidates get three years of relaxation, while SC and ST candidates get five years. Eligible candidates with disabilities can receive relaxation of up to 15 years according to the applicable rules.
The application has to be submitted online. The fee is Rs 100. Candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories, eligible ex servicemen and women candidates do not have to pay the application fee.
The selection process will not be based on a single examination. Candidates first have to clear Tier 1, which is a computer based test covering English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. There will be 100 questions carrying 200 marks. A wrong answer will result in a deduction of 0.50 marks.
Those who move ahead will appear for Tier 2. It includes Mathematics, Reasoning and General Intelligence, English Language and Comprehension, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge. Candidates applying for relevant posts will also face a skill or typing test.
There is negative marking in the first three sections of Tier 2 as well. One mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
The pay package varies according to the post. LDC and JSA employees will receive a basic pay scale of Rs 19,900 to Rs 63,200. DEO positions carry pay scales of Rs 25,500 to Rs 81,100 or Rs 29,200 to Rs 92,300, depending on the level. DEO Grade A posts come under the Rs 25,500 to Rs 81,100 pay scale.
The application window will remain open until October 7. Candidates interested in the recruitment should apply before the deadline rather than waiting until the final day, and should read the official notification carefully before submitting the form.
