A man died by suicide in Puttur after his wife and two children died earlier, with police investigating his death following his release on bail and continued emotional distress there.
Puttur Family Tragedy: A 30 year old man died by suicide in Puttur after reportedly struggling with the loss of his wife and two children. The incident occurred near a mango orchard close to the Puttur Forest Department check post on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Siva Shankar Rao, a resident of Paidipalli under the Toruru panchayat limits. He had married Padma, a native of Nesanur, after they fell in love while studying for their degree. The couple had two children, seven year old Teja and five year old Lasya.
The family had been living in a rented house at Krishna Nagar in Puttur. According to the available information, financial difficulties had put considerable pressure on the family. Loans taken for household expenses and through a self help group had reportedly added to their problems.
On February 7, Padma died by suicide after the family faced increasing pressure over repayment of loans. Her two children also died in the same incident. Police registered a case in connection with the deaths and arrested Siva Shankar Rao and his mother. Both were sent to jail during the investigation.
Siva Shankar Rao was released on bail recently. Relatives reportedly noticed that he remained deeply distressed after coming out of jail, particularly following the loss of his wife and children.
Before his death on Wednesday, he is said to have recorded a voice message for his relatives expressing that he could not imagine continuing his life without his wife and children. The message reportedly raised concern among those who received it.
Police were informed about the incident and reached the location soon afterwards. Puttur Circle Inspector Netti Kanthaiah and other personnel examined the scene and began collecting information about what happened before the death.
Officials are now looking into the circumstances surrounding the case, including the deceased man’s recent movements and the events following his release on bail. Further details are expected as the police investigation continues.
