BRS Assembly Suspension: BRS Members Suspended From Telangana Assembly Over Protests
BRS members were suspended from the Telangana Assembly session after protests disrupted proceedings, with the ruling Congress accusing the opposition of repeatedly insulting the Speaker and demanding action against them.
BRS Assembly Suspension: The Telangana Assembly witnessed fresh tension on Wednesday after several BRS members were suspended for disrupting proceedings. Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar announced that the suspension would remain in effect until the end of the current Assembly session.
The action came shortly after the House began its third day of proceedings. BRS members raised slogans demanding justice and entered the well of the House, preventing the session from proceeding normally.
Following the disruption, Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu moved a motion seeking the suspension of the protesting members. The Speaker accepted the proposal and announced action against 19 BRS legislators.
Those suspended include KTR, Harish Rao, Kaushik Reddy, Madhavaram Krishna Rao, Manik Rao, Chinta Prabhakar, Prashanth Reddy, Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Kaleru Venkatesh, Vijayaudu, Jagadish Reddy, Anil Jadhav, Sudheer Reddy, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Sabitha Indra Reddy, Kova Lakshmi and Sunitha Lakshma Reddy.
The latest confrontation follows days of heated exchanges between the ruling Congress and the BRS inside and outside the legislature. The row has also centred on remarks made against Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, which drew strong criticism from Congress leaders.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka accused BRS leaders of repeatedly crossing the line in their conduct towards the Speaker. He said the opposition should respect the Speaker’s directions and allow the House to function instead of entering the well and challenging the authority of the chair.
Bhatti also criticised the BRS over the protests that followed the controversy involving the Speaker. He said the government had shown restraint despite what he described as repeated insults and provocative actions by opposition leaders.
According to Bhatti, the issue was no longer limited to political differences inside the Assembly. He accused the opposition of attempting to create divisions and said the government would not accept what he described as feudal style politics.
The Deputy Chief Minister further argued that weaker sections, including Dalits and tribal communities, should be the focus of demands for justice. His comments came amid the continuing political dispute between the Congress government and the BRS.
With the suspension announced, the confrontation has added another layer of tension to the ongoing Assembly session. The BRS has continued to raise issues against the government, while the ruling party has accused its members of obstructing legislative business.
