SBI Revises ATM Transaction Rules for Salary Account Holders
SBI will reduce free ATM transactions at other banks for salary package customers from October 1, with charges applying after the revised monthly limit.

State Bank of India (SBI) is set to revise its ATM transaction rules for salary package account holders, with the changes scheduled to take effect from October 1, 2026. The move will affect the number of free transactions customers can make at ATMs operated by other banks.
Under the current rules, SBI salary package account holders can make up to 10 free transactions every month at other bank ATMs or Automated Teller Machines. The revised rules will cut this allowance to five transactions per month.
Once the free limit is exhausted, customers will have to pay charges for additional transactions. Financial transactions such as cash withdrawals will attract a fee of Rs 23 plus applicable GST. Non financial services, including balance enquiries and mini statements, will cost Rs 11 plus GST after the free transaction limit is crossed.
SBI has clarified that the revised rules are specifically applicable to salary package account holders using other banks ATMs. Transactions carried out at SBI ATMs will not be covered by this particular change.
The bank has also stated that regular savings account customers will not be affected by the revised provision. Their existing ATM transaction rules will continue to apply.
The change means salary account holders who frequently use other banks ATMs may need to keep a closer watch on their monthly free transaction limit. Using SBI ATMs where convenient could help them avoid additional charges.
