PhonePe Brings UPI 123Pay for Offline Payments
PhonePe has introduced UPI 123Pay for basic phone users, allowing digital payments without internet while also offering balance checks and transaction details in multiple Indian languages.

PhonePe has introduced UPI 123Pay, a service designed to make UPI payments possible even when an internet connection is unavailable. The feature mainly targets people using basic feature phones.
PhonePe has partnered with mobile brands including Nokia, HMD, Lava and itel to expand the service. Under the arrangement, UPI 123Pay will come pre installed on select new feature phones from these companies.
To start using the service, users need to open the UPI 123Pay application on their phone and select their bank. They can then enter the last six digits of their debit card and create a UPI PIN to complete the setup.
The service is not limited to making payments. Users can also check their bank balance and access details of recent transactions through the same facility.
PhonePe said the initiative is aimed at taking digital payments to people in areas where reliable internet access remains a challenge. Support for English and 12 Indian languages is also expected to make the service easier for a wider section of users.
The move could give feature phone users more options for digital transactions without depending on mobile data or a smartphone, particularly in locations where internet connectivity is limited.
