Karnataka Minister B Nagendra has announced his resignation amid renewed political pressure over alleged financial irregularities involving the Valmiki Corporation and the reported diversion of Rs 187 crore.

B Nagendra has stepped down as Karnataka’s minister following fresh political pressure over the alleged Rs 187 crore Valmiki Corporation scam, an issue that has triggered strong protests from the BJP and JD(S).

The controversy has been a major point of confrontation between the ruling Congress and the opposition. BJP and JD(S) leaders have repeatedly accused the government of failing to properly address the alleged misuse of funds and have demanded a detailed investigation into the matter.

The issue also came up in both Houses of the Karnataka Legislature, where opposition members pressed for action against those allegedly responsible. Their protests included demands for Nagendra to leave the Cabinet and for the government to ensure a thorough probe into the financial transactions linked to the corporation.

Nagendra had earlier resigned from his ministerial position after allegations surfaced in connection with the Valmiki Corporation funds. The case was subsequently investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). After receiving a clean chit from the SIT, he was later brought back into the Karnataka Cabinet under the Congress government led by Siddaramaiah, with Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar playing a key role in the government.

His return to the Cabinet drew sharp criticism from the BJP and JD(S). Opposition leaders questioned the decision to restore a ministerial position to a leader who had previously faced allegations linked to the controversy.

The alleged financial irregularities involving the Valmiki Corporation have therefore continued to remain politically sensitive despite the earlier SIT findings. The opposition has continued to raise questions over the handling of the case and the government’s response to the allegations.

Nagendra’s latest resignation has once again brought the Valmiki Corporation controversy into the spotlight. His decision is expected to add further pressure on the Karnataka government as the opposition continues to demand accountability over the alleged Rs 187 crore financial irregularities.
