Vivo X Fold 6 Repair Costs Revealed Motherboard Replacement Can Cost Up to Rs 72000

Buying a premium foldable smartphone is a major investment, but the purchase price is only part of the story. Vivo has now revealed the official spare part pricing for the recently launched Vivo X Fold 6 in China, giving buyers a clear idea of how much repairs could cost after the warranty period. The figures show that replacing some key components can be surprisingly expensive, especially the motherboard and the foldable display.

The Vivo X Fold 6 arrives with flagship specifications that justify its premium positioning. It features an 8.02 inch foldable AMOLED display paired with a 6.51 inch outer AMOLED screen. Both panels support a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR content, Samsung M14 luminous material and peak brightness of up to 5000 nits. The device also carries IP58 and IP59 ratings for dust and water resistance, making it one of the more durable foldable phones in its category.

Performance is handled by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor built on a 3nm architecture. The chipset is paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and as much as 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, delivering flagship level performance for multitasking, gaming and productivity. The phone also includes a side mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock for added security.

Photography is another major highlight. Vivo has equipped the foldable with a Zeiss tuned triple rear camera setup led by a 200 megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilization. It is joined by a 50 megapixel ultra wide camera and a 50 megapixel periscope telephoto lens capable of offering up to 100x digital zoom. The phone also includes dual 20 megapixel selfie cameras placed on both the cover display and the inner display, while supporting video recording up to 8K resolution.

Powering the device is a massive 7000mAh battery that supports 80W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging. Connectivity options include 5G, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, USB Type C, GPS and multiple satellite navigation systems, making it a complete flagship package.

Despite these premium features, repair costs could significantly impact ownership if the device is damaged. The foldable inner display is the most expensive component to replace. Vivo has priced the complete inner display assembly at 3780 yuan, which is approximately Rs 52000. For customers replacing the screen for the first time, the company offers a 25 percent discount, reducing the cost to around Rs 39000. If only the inner display panel requires replacement instead of the complete assembly, the repair cost is approximately Rs 26000.

Repairing the outer display is much more affordable. Replacing only the outer glass costs around Rs 4000, while replacing the complete outer display assembly is priced at approximately Rs 12000.

Battery replacement remains relatively inexpensive compared to other parts. A new battery costs about Rs 3500, making it one of the more affordable repairs for the foldable device.

Camera replacement costs vary depending on the module. The front camera replacement is priced at around Rs 1400. Replacing the rear ultra wide camera costs roughly Rs 1500, while the periscope telephoto camera replacement is estimated at about Rs 4000. The flagship 200 megapixel primary camera module carries a repair cost of approximately Rs 5400.

The motherboard is by far the most expensive component. Pricing depends on the storage configuration of the device. The motherboard for the 12GB and 256GB model costs around Rs 51000. The 12GB and 512GB version increases to about Rs 58000, while the 16GB and 512GB model reaches nearly Rs 65000. Owners of the top end 16GB and 1TB variant may have to spend approximately Rs 72000 if the motherboard needs replacement.

Customers who require a replacement charger can purchase the official charging kit for around Rs 2700.

Vivo has also clarified that all published prices cover only spare parts. Once the standard warranty expires, customers will need to pay an additional labour charge of around Rs 700 for each repair visit. However, if multiple components are replaced during the same service appointment, the labour fee is charged only once.

The Vivo X Fold 6 starts at 7999 yuan, roughly Rs 111000, for the 12GB and 256GB variant. The 12GB and 512GB model is priced at approximately Rs 125000, while the 16GB and 512GB version costs around Rs 139000. The top variant featuring 16GB RAM and 1TB storage is available for about Rs 153000. Vivo has also introduced a special Black Gold Edition priced at nearly Rs 157000. The foldable smartphone will go on sale in China from July 1 and is offered in Blue Hole, Polar Night and Salt Lake colour options.

The newly released repair pricing highlights an important consideration for foldable smartphone buyers. While the Vivo X Fold 6 delivers premium hardware, advanced cameras and a large battery, repairing major components can be expensive. Buyers planning to invest in the device may also want to consider extended warranty or protection plans to avoid unexpected repair bills in the future.
