Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Tipped to Feature Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Chipset as FCC Listing Reveals Key Details
Samsung’s upcoming foldable Galaxy Z Fold 8 has appeared on FCC certification suggesting next generation Snapdragon performance upgraded cameras and refined design with possible Ultra and Flip variants joining the lineup

Samsung appears to be preparing its next wave of foldable smartphones, and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is already generating strong attention ahead of its official debut. Alongside this device, the company is also expected to introduce other models such as the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and a more premium Ultra variant, expanding its foldable portfolio further.
Recent reports indicate that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has been spotted on the US FCC certification website with the model number SM F971U. This listing is believed to represent the US variant of the upcoming foldable device. While full official specifications are still under wraps, the certification has revealed some early insights into its hardware direction.
The FCC documentation suggests that the device may include Qualcomm modem technology along with advanced transmission systems, pointing toward the possibility of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset powering the phone. If accurate, this would mark a significant performance upgrade for Samsung’s next generation foldable.
Design improvements also seem to be part of the plan. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to feature a compact cover display paired with a wider internal folding screen. Both displays are likely to integrate camera support, continuing Samsung’s focus on seamless usability across folded and unfolded modes.
In terms of battery performance, the device is rumored to house a 4800mAh battery with support for 45W wired fast charging. This combination suggests a balance between power efficiency and fast recharge capability, aligning with current flagship expectations.
Camera upgrades are also anticipated. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 may feature a dual rear camera system, with both sensors reportedly using 50 megapixel resolution. This setup could enhance photography performance while keeping the design streamlined.
Meanwhile, additional Samsung foldable devices have also surfaced in certification databases. The Bureau of Indian Standards listing has reportedly shown multiple models, including devices believed to be part of the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 series variations. One of these listings is even linked to a possible Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra model.
Leaks surrounding the Ultra variant suggest a more advanced setup, including a 6.5 inch cover display and an 8 inch inner screen, both expected to support a 120Hz refresh rate. Camera specifications for this model may include a powerful 200 megapixel main sensor along with a 50 megapixel ultra wide lens and a 10 megapixel telephoto camera.
With multiple certifications and leaks emerging simultaneously, Samsung’s next foldable lineup is shaping up to be one of the most significant upgrades in recent years, especially as competition in the foldable smartphone segment continues to intensify.
