OnePlus May Bring 185Hz Displays to More Phones Including Affordable Models

OnePlus appears to be planning one of its biggest display upgrades yet, according to fresh leaks. The company is reportedly working on bringing ultra smooth 185Hz refresh rate displays not only to its flagship smartphones but also to selected midrange models. If the reports prove accurate, the move could make high refresh rate technology more accessible to a wider range of buyers.

The latest leak suggests that OnePlus is developing the upcoming OnePlus 16 and Ace 7 series with 185Hz displays. These devices are expected to arrive later this year and could become the first smartphones from the brand to feature the new panel technology. Earlier flagship models from the company already introduced 165Hz displays, making the next step a notable improvement.

The biggest surprise, however, is that OnePlus may not keep this feature exclusive to premium devices. Industry sources claim the company is considering a new display strategy that would gradually introduce 185Hz panels across multiple product categories. This means future affordable smartphones could also deliver a smoother gaming and scrolling experience.

Reports indicate that the next generation OnePlus 16R and Nord 7 could also receive 185Hz displays. In China, the upcoming Ace 7 lineup is also expected to feature the same high refresh rate technology across all variants. While nothing has been officially confirmed, the leak points toward a consistent display experience throughout the company’s smartphone portfolio.

The launch of the OnePlus 16R and Nord 7 is still believed to be some time away. Based on the brand’s previous release schedule, the OnePlus 16R may arrive toward the end of 2026, while the Nord 7 is expected to debut in early 2027. The company has not announced an official launch timeline for either device.

Meanwhile, OnePlus is preparing to introduce the new OnePlus N6 in India on June 30. The smartphone is expected to target the budget segment with an anticipated starting price of around Rs 18000 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant.

Ahead of the launch, OnePlus has already revealed several important features of the N6. The smartphone will include a massive 5300mm² vapor cooling system, which the company claims is the largest in its segment. It is designed to improve thermal performance during gaming and demanding tasks.

The camera setup will feature a 50 megapixel AI powered rear sensor capable of recording 60FPS videos and supporting Dual View mode. An 8 megapixel front camera will handle selfies and video calls.

Battery life is expected to be another major highlight. The OnePlus N6 will pack an 8000mAh battery with support for 45W SuperVOOC fast charging. According to the company, just five minutes of charging will provide up to 1.7 hours of YouTube playback, while a full charge could last as long as three days under suitable usage conditions. OnePlus also claims the battery is designed to maintain its health for up to seven years.

The smartphone will run OxygenOS 16 and is promised to deliver a smooth user experience for up to 60 months. With a combination of long battery life, efficient cooling, and modern software, the OnePlus N6 aims to offer premium features at an affordable price.

Although the 185Hz display plans remain based on leaks for now, they indicate that OnePlus could be preparing a significant shift in its smartphone lineup. If the company brings this technology to both flagship and budget devices, users across different price segments may soon enjoy one of the smoothest display experiences available on a smartphone.
