Thirty Students Hospitalised After Suspected Food Poisoning in Mancherial School
Nearly thirty government school students were admitted to hospital after developing stomach related illness following dinner, prompting authorities to collect food samples for laboratory examination.
Nearly 30 students studying at a government girls school in Bellampalli of Mancherial district were taken to a government hospital after several of them complained of stomach pain and vomiting following their evening meal.
Doctors provided immediate treatment, and most of the students were discharged later in the night after their condition improved. However, around eight students reportedly developed similar symptoms again and were brought back to the hospital on Thursday morning for further medical care.
Health officials have collected food samples from the school kitchen and sent them for laboratory analysis to determine the exact cause of the illness. Authorities said further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
The incident has once again drawn attention to food safety standards in government educational institutions across Telangana. Officials have launched an inquiry to examine whether any lapses in food preparation or storage contributed to the students falling ill.
In recent weeks, Telangana has witnessed several similar incidents in residential schools and hostels. Students in different districts have reportedly suffered food related illnesses after consuming meals served at government institutions, leading to renewed concerns about monitoring kitchen hygiene and food quality.
Authorities said they are closely monitoring the health of the affected students while awaiting the laboratory test results to identify the source of the suspected food contamination.
