Telangana Unveils New Indiramma Saree Initiative for Women Groups

The state government introduced fresh Indiramma Saree models aimed at empowering women group members while also strengthening employment opportunities for handloom workers throughout Telangana

The Telangana government has rolled out newly designed Indiramma Sarees that are set to be distributed among women self help group members across the state. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy presented the saree collection at a function held in Hyderabad in the presence of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Seethakka and senior women officials.

During the event, two specially designed saree patterns were showcased with a vibrant parrot green appearance and a contemporary style. The launch ceremony also witnessed the Chief Minister presenting the newly introduced sarees to Minister Seethakka and another woman official, highlighting the government’s focus on recognizing and supporting women.

Officials stated that the initiative is being promoted as a symbol of respect and empowerment for women. The program aims to strengthen self help groups and provide encouragement to women who play an important role in community development.

The government has also made a key change in the implementation of the scheme. Earlier, the benefits were largely limited to rural women groups, but this phase will now include women members from urban areas as well, expanding the program’s reach significantly.

Along with supporting beneficiaries, the initiative is expected to create a positive impact on the handloom sector. Authorities have placed orders for nearly one crore sarees with local weaving communities, which is likely to generate steady work for thousands of handloom families across Telangana.

Officials are currently making arrangements to ensure the sarees are delivered to eligible women without delay. The products are being prepared according to quality standards and changing consumer preferences to ensure better acceptance among beneficiaries.
