Telangana Two DA Update: Telangana government employees, teachers and pensioners could soon receive some relief on their pending dearness allowance payments, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reportedly responding positively to a request for the release of two DAs.

Leaders of the employees Joint Action Committee met Revanth Reddy at the Assembly on Thursday. The discussion lasted around half an hour and covered several long pending issues, including the Pay Revision Commission, DA payments, the Employees Health Scheme and special duty facilities for employee union representatives.

The main focus of the meeting was the pending DAs. Employee union leaders told the Chief Minister that five DAs were yet to be released and requested the government to clear at least three of them.

According to the leaders, Revanth Reddy responded positively and indicated that the government was working towards approving two DAs. A final decision is expected after further discussions with officials.

The issue is likely to become clearer during a meeting scheduled for September 18 between employee representatives and officials led by the Chief Secretary. The government is expected to examine the financial implications before taking a final call.

The Finance Department has estimated that releasing two DAs together could put an additional financial burden of around Rs 6,000 crore on the government every year. The size of the financial commitment is therefore expected to be an important factor in the final decision.

The Pay Revision Commission is another major demand from employees. Revanth Reddy reportedly assured the union leaders that the government would examine the commission’s report once it is received and then hold discussions with employee representatives before finalising the recommendations.

The Chief Minister also indicated that the government would review the pending employee related matters with Finance Department officials after the ongoing Assembly session concludes.

Employee representatives said the Chief Minister assured them that they could meet him whenever necessary to discuss their concerns. His reportedly positive response to the DA demand has brought some optimism among government employees.

For employees and pensioners who have been waiting for the pending allowances, the next few weeks could be important. The September 18 meeting is expected to provide greater clarity on how many DAs the government is prepared to release and when the payments could be implemented.

For now, however, the release of two DAs has not been formally announced through a government order. Employees will have to wait for the government’s final decision and the subsequent official proceedings.
