Telangana RTC QR Ticketing: Telangana RTC is preparing to introduce a self ticketing system that will allow passengers to book their bus tickets without waiting for the driver to issue them.

The new facility is planned initially for non stop Deluxe bus services operating between Nalgonda and Hyderabad. Passengers will be able to scan a QR code displayed near the bus entrance using their smartphones and complete the booking process themselves.

After scanning the code, passengers will need to enter their boarding and destination points. They can then make the payment online and receive the ticket digitally. The ticket can be shown to the driver while boarding.

The Nalgonda Hyderabad route currently has around 45 Deluxe buses operating as non stop services. RTC officials plan to assess the response to the pilot and, if successful, expand the system to other routes by the end of September.

The move is expected to reduce waiting time and eliminate the need for passengers to carry exact change. It could also reduce the workload on drivers by limiting the need to issue tickets during boarding.

However, passengers without smartphones or those unfamiliar with digital payments will not be left out. They will still be able to obtain tickets directly from the driver.

For the new system, Telangana RTC has partnered with MeeSeva’s Mee Ticket service to facilitate digital ticketing.

Meanwhile, RTC is also preparing for increased travel demand during the Rakhi festival. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said around 5,000 special buses would operate from August 27 to August 31. Last year, 4,760 special services carried about 3.68 crore passengers during the festival period, including around 2.51 crore women passengers.
