Telangana Ration Card e KYC Deadline Approaches as Government Issues Final Reminder

The Telangana government has intensified its campaign to ensure that every ration card beneficiary completes the mandatory e KYC verification before the July 31 deadline. With only a few days remaining, the Civil Supplies Department has launched its final round of outreach, making it clear that no decision has been taken to extend the verification period.

Officials have cautioned that beneficiaries who fail to complete the verification process may face interruptions in receiving benefits under the Public Distribution System. Although eligible families who miss the deadline are expected to receive three months of ration supplies together from next month, authorities have indicated that continued failure to complete e KYC could eventually result in the suspension of welfare benefits linked to the ration card.

According to official figures, Telangana currently has 1,05,42,188 ration cards, covering nearly 3,39,96,239 beneficiaries across the state. Within the Greater Hyderabad region alone, around 15.9 lakh ration cards are active. These numbers underline the scale of the verification exercise being carried out by the Civil Supplies Department.

The department reported that approximately 75 percent of beneficiaries have already completed the authentication process. However, nearly 25 percent of eligible individuals are still pending verification, prompting authorities to accelerate field level operations during the final phase of the drive.

To achieve complete beneficiary verification, district officials have been instructed to strengthen monitoring and expand door to door verification efforts. The state has been divided into sectors and sub sectors, with designated checking inspectors supervising each area. Special teams have also been deployed to identify and assist beneficiaries whose e KYC remains incomplete.

Officials said the verification exercise is aimed at ensuring that food security benefits reach only genuine and eligible families while maintaining an accurate and transparent beneficiary database. The exercise is also expected to eliminate duplicate or inactive records from the distribution system, improving the efficiency of welfare delivery.

Beneficiaries have been advised not to wait until the final day and to visit the nearest Fair Price Shop or the designated verification center with the required documents to complete the process. The department has appealed to all eligible cardholders to cooperate with officials and avoid unnecessary delays that could affect future benefits.

The Civil Supplies Department has reiterated that timely completion of e KYC is essential for the uninterrupted continuation of ration services under government welfare schemes. Authorities have urged all remaining beneficiaries to treat the July 31 deadline as the final opportunity to update their records.
