Telangana New Parking Rules Warn Vehicle Owners Against Illegal Roadside Parking

Telangana government is preparing to enforce tougher parking regulations with vehicle towing, fines, and auction rules aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving road safety across the state.

Vehicle owners in Telangana may soon face stricter penalties for careless roadside parking as the state government prepares to introduce a new parking policy focused on reducing traffic congestion and improving road discipline.

Under the proposed rules prepared by the transport department, vehicles parked illegally along roads, footpaths, and no parking zones will be immediately towed away by traffic police. Owners will have to pay towing charges along with additional penalties to reclaim their vehicles.

Officials say the move is part of a larger effort to reduce traffic blockages in busy urban areas where random parking has become a major problem for commuters and emergency movement.

The draft policy also includes strict measures for vehicles abandoned on roads due to breakdowns. Even if a vehicle develops mechanical problems, owners cannot leave it unattended for long periods on public roads.

Police will be authorized to seize such vehicles and shift them to designated holding areas or police stations. Vehicle owners will then be required to pay parking and storage charges for every day the vehicle remains in custody.

According to the proposed regulations, if a vehicle is not claimed within forty five days, authorities may auction it as per government procedures. Pending traffic challans and unpaid fines must also be cleared before the vehicle is released back to the owner.

The Telangana government decided to frame these rules following directions issued by the Supreme Court to improve road safety and reduce accidents caused by traffic obstructions.

Traffic officials have made it clear that vehicles parked on footpaths and restricted zones will not be spared once the policy comes into force. Authorities believe strict enforcement will help create smoother traffic movement and safer roads for pedestrians and motorists alike.

Before final implementation, the government is expected to seek public suggestions and feedback on the draft policy. Officials are advising motorists to follow parking regulations carefully to avoid penalties and unnecessary inconvenience in the future.
