Telangana Heatwave: Heatwave Intensifies Across Telangana as Temperatures Rise Up to Seven Degrees Above Normal

Telangana Heatwave: Telangana is facing intense heatwave conditions as temperatures surged well above normal levels across several districts while weather officials warned of continued hot conditions this weekend.

Telangana Heatwave: Large parts of Telangana continued to experience extreme summer conditions on Friday as unusually high temperatures and oppressive humidity left residents struggling to cope. The impact was particularly severe in northern districts, where heatwave conditions intensified throughout the day.

According to weather officials, severe heatwave conditions were reported in 59 mandals spread across 17 districts. In addition, another 116 mandals witnessed varying levels of heatwave activity, highlighting the widespread nature of the weather event across the state.

Ramagundam recorded one of the sharpest temperature departures from normal levels. While the expected temperature for this time of year was around 34.9 degrees Celsius, the mercury climbed to 41.9 degrees Celsius, marking an increase of seven degrees above average. Similar trends were observed in several districts, with Nizamabad recording 41.3 degrees Celsius, while Medak and Hanamkonda reported temperatures touching 40 and 41 degrees Celsius respectively.

The highest number of heatwave affected mandals was reported in Mancherial and Nirmal districts, where ten mandals each experienced severe conditions. Peddapalli followed with nine affected mandals, while Hyderabad and Kamareddy recorded heatwave conditions in eight mandals each.

Several other districts also witnessed temperatures significantly above seasonal averages. Mahabubnagar recorded temperatures 5.3 degrees higher than normal, Khammam saw an increase of 4.5 degrees, and Hyderabad registered a rise of 4.2 degrees above its usual levels.

The India Meteorological Department has warned that heatwave conditions are likely to continue on Saturday and Sunday. Yellow alerts have been issued for districts across North Telangana, South Telangana and Central Telangana.

Despite the ongoing heatwave, weather officials have also predicted the possibility of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in a few districts. Authorities have advised people to remain cautious and take necessary precautions while venturing outdoors during peak afternoon hours.
