Telangana Govt Plans Major TGSRTC Merger for RTC Employees

The Telangana government is speeding up the TGSRTC merger process, a decision expected to improve job security, salaries and employee benefits for thousands of RTC workers in the state.

The Telangana government is actively working on the long pending TGSRTC merger process, bringing fresh hope to thousands of RTC employees waiting for government employee status. Officials are now focusing on completing the required procedures at a faster pace.

Sources said the state leadership is treating the TGSRTC merger as an important welfare decision for RTC workers. A key announcement regarding the merger is likely to be made during Telangana State Formation Day celebrations on June 2.

To make the merger process smooth, the government had earlier formed a committee to study legal and administrative issues connected with TGSRTC. Officials visited Andhra Pradesh and other states where RTC systems were already merged with government departments.

After studying different models, the committee submitted its report to the Telangana government. Based on the recommendations, departments are preparing detailed merger guidelines and operational plans.

If the proposal gets final approval, nearly 37,360 RTC employees could receive government employee status. The merger is expected to provide better salary structures, stronger job security and additional employee benefits.

At the same time, officials are also reviewing the financial impact of the TGSRTC merger. According to preliminary estimates, the government may have to bear an extra annual burden of over Rs 1,000 crore towards salaries and staff related expenses.

Despite the expected financial pressure, the Telangana government appears determined to move ahead with the TGSRTC merger, highlighting employee welfare and the future stability of the transport corporation as major priorities.
