Telangana DGP Intensifies Checks on Illegal Cattle Transport Before Bakrid
Telangana police have strengthened surveillance and border monitoring across the state to stop illegal cattle transportation and maintain peace ahead of the Bakrid festival celebrations this month.

Ahead of the Bakrid festival, Telangana Director General of Police CV Anand has instructed police officials across the state to enforce strict monitoring against illegal cattle transportation and ensure that public peace is maintained without disturbance.
During a statewide video conference held with Police Commissioners and District Superintendents of Police on Wednesday, the DGP reviewed security preparedness and directed officers to remain alert in sensitive areas. He stressed that no illegal movement of livestock should be allowed under any circumstances.
Police authorities were also reminded about communal incidents reported during Bakrid celebrations in the previous year. Keeping those developments in mind, the DGP asked officers to take preventive steps in advance and closely monitor areas that could potentially witness tension.
As part of the intensified security arrangements, Telangana Police have established a large network of checkpoints across the state. Officials revealed that 203 check posts are currently functioning to monitor cattle transportation and suspicious movement.
Out of these, 52 inter state check posts have been set up along Telangana’s borders with Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh. These checkpoints are expected to play a key role in stopping unauthorized livestock transportation into the state before the festival.
Senior police officials have been instructed to coordinate with district level teams and conduct continuous surveillance, especially on highways and border routes frequently used for transport movement.
The DGP also emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order during the festive period and directed officers to respond immediately to any attempt that could disturb communal harmony.
With Bakrid approaching later this month, police departments across Telangana are increasing patrols, intelligence gathering, and field inspections to ensure peaceful celebrations throughout the state.
