Summer Vacation Ends in Tragedy as Two Boys Drown in Telangana Pond
Two teenage boys who had visited their relatives during summer holidays lost their lives after entering a village pond for a swim in Telangana’s Nirmal district on Monday morning.

A joyful summer vacation visit turned into a heartbreaking tragedy in Telangana after two teenage boys drowned in a pond while spending holidays at their relatives’ home in Nirmal district.
The incident took place in Vitholi village under Muthol mandal, leaving the entire village in deep shock and grief. Family members who had welcomed the children for a fun filled holiday were left devastated within hours.
Boys Had Arrived for Summer Holidays
According to local residents, 14 year old Swaraj from Nanded in Maharashtra and 14 year old Nikhil from Kolur village in Tanur mandal had come to stay with their relative Balaji in Vitholi village a few days ago.
The boys reportedly spent the last several days happily exploring the village, cycling through green fields, and playing with local children during their summer break.
On Monday morning, both boys left home on a bicycle around 10 am. When they failed to return even by afternoon, worried family members began searching for them.
Search Ends in Shock
During the search, relatives found the bicycle abandoned near Rangari Kunta pond on the outskirts of the village. Suspecting something was wrong, villagers searched the water body and discovered Nikhil’s body floating in the pond.
The shocking discovery left family members and villagers stunned. A further search operation was launched for Swaraj, whose body was later found trapped in the muddy section of the pond.
Village Mourns the Loss
The deaths of the two boys cast a shadow of sorrow across the village. Residents said the children were cheerful and had been enjoying their holidays without any worries until the tragic incident occurred.
Police officials who reached the spot began recording statements and gathering details from family members. Bhainsa Rural Circle Inspector Praveen Kumar and Sub Inspector Bitla Persis supervised the preliminary investigation.
Police Suspect Accidental Drowning
Initial investigation suggests the boys may have entered the pond for swimming without knowing how to swim properly. Officials believe the absence of people nearby at that time delayed rescue efforts.
Locals said the tragedy has once again highlighted the dangers of unattended village ponds, especially during summer holidays when children often gather near water bodies for recreation.
