SIR Hearings From Aug 27: Telangana SIR Voter Hearings to Begin From August 27

Voter notice distribution has begun across Telangana under the Special Intensive Revision, with hearings scheduled from August 27 to September 20 and appeals to get dedicated support.

SIR Hearings From Aug 27: The voter verification process under Telangana’s Special Intensive Revision has entered its next stage, with officials starting to issue notices to voters included in the draft electoral roll.

Those who receive notices will be called for hearings between August 27 and September 20. The Election Commission has also directed officials to complete the generation and printing of all notices by August 31.

Booth Level Officers will have to explain the reason for each notice, the hearing date and location, and the documents voters need to provide. Notice details must also be updated through the designated application after delivery.

Voters can submit their documents through the voter portal, the BLO application or by appearing before the election authorities during the hearing. Officials have been instructed to give voters reasonable time if they need additional time to submit supporting documents.

The Election Department has stressed that the process should not result in the removal of any eligible voter. Documents submitted by voters will be verified through the concerned departments, while Election Registration Officers will communicate their decision if the submitted evidence is not considered sufficient.

Hearings are expected to be conducted at gram panchayat buildings or ward offices. Local authorities will inform residents about the venue and schedule through public announcements.

Special cells will also be established at District Election Officer offices to handle appeals. Officials have been told to issue an order for deletion only in cases where the Election Registration Officer is not satisfied with the explanation and supporting documents.

Village and ward meetings are scheduled for August 27, where names in the draft voter list will be read out. Details of ASD voters, including those marked as absent, shifted, deceased or duplicate, will also be announced.

Chief Electoral Officer Sudarshan Reddy held a video conference with District Election Officers and Election Registration Officers and issued further instructions on the implementation of the SIR process.
