Nalgonda SC ST Court Verdict Sends Strong Message With Eleven Year Jail Sentence
A special SC ST court in Nalgonda awarded strict prison sentences to two accused in a caste abuse and cheating case that remained under trial for over a decade.

In a significant judgment that highlights the seriousness of caste based discrimination, the Special SC ST Court in Nalgonda delivered a strong verdict in a thirteen year old case involving cheating, caste abuse, and harassment of a woman.
The court sentenced the main accused to eleven years of imprisonment after finding him guilty of deceiving a young woman in the name of marriage and later insulting her based on caste. The ruling is being seen as an important reminder that justice may take time, but serious offences against vulnerable communities will not go unpunished.
According to details shared by Nalgonda Superintendent of Police Sharath Chandra Pawar, the incident dates back to 2013. The accused, Nakka Parvathalu from Gannerulapalli village in Chandampet mandal, allegedly convinced a young woman from Dindi mandal that he would marry her.
However, when the victim later raised the issue of marriage, the accused and his mother in law Neelam Sattamma reportedly refused the proposal and allegedly humiliated the woman by making insulting remarks about her caste.
After a lengthy legal process and examination of evidence, the Special SC ST Court pronounced its verdict on Tuesday. The court sentenced Nakka Parvathalu to a combined eleven years of rigorous imprisonment under different sections of law and also imposed a fine of five thousand rupees.
The second accused, Neelam Sattamma, was sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of three thousand rupees. The court also stated that additional imprisonment would apply if the fines are not paid. Both sentences will run simultaneously as per the court’s direction.
Police officials said the judgment was possible due to strong evidence collection and consistent legal follow up by the investigation team. Authorities appreciated the efforts of Special Public Prosecutor Narasimha and several police officers who played a crucial role in pursuing the case.
Officials including former SI Ramanjaneyulu, former Devarakonda SDPO Manohar, Head Constable Krishnan, and Constable Lingayya were praised for supporting the victim and ensuring the case moved forward effectively. Present Dindi police officials and supervising officers were also appreciated for their role in handling the matter.
The verdict has drawn attention across the district, with officials stating that the judgment sends a clear warning that harassment and discrimination against weaker sections of society will invite strict punishment regardless of how much time passes after the crime.
