Heavy Rain Alert Issued for Telangana as Several Districts Brace for Downpour
Weather officials have forecast widespread rainfall across Telangana over the next twenty four hours with heavy showers expected in several districts including Hyderabad and northern regions.
Rainfall activity has intensified across Telangana, prompting weather authorities to issue a fresh alert for several districts. Officials expect cloudy conditions to persist throughout the day, with moderate to heavy rain likely in many parts of the state over the next twenty four hours.
Northern and eastern Telangana witnessed widespread overnight showers accompanied by thunder and lightning. Among the highest rainfall figures recorded were Kannapalli in Mancherial district with 124 millimetres and Kamanpur in Peddapalli district with 109.5 millimetres. The continuous rain has caused streams and local water bodies to swell in several areas.
According to the latest forecast, districts including Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Peddapalli and Jagtial are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall during the coming hours. Similar weather conditions are also likely in Medak, Siddipet, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Nirmal and Adilabad.
Light to moderate showers may also affect Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, Jangaon, Hanamkonda, Warangal and Mahabubabad as rain bearing clouds continue to move across the region.
Hyderabad is also expected to remain under overcast skies, with weather experts predicting moderate to heavy rain from the afternoon through the night. Authorities have advised motorists and commuters to remain cautious as waterlogging may occur on several roads during periods of intense rainfall.
The city has already experienced steady showers since Monday evening. Maheshwaram recorded 34.3 millimetres of rainfall, followed by Balapur with 30.8 millimetres. Sheikhpet, Hafeezpet and Madhapur also received significant rainfall, reflecting the widespread nature of the current weather system.
Residents across Telangana have been advised to monitor local weather updates and take necessary precautions while travelling, especially in areas vulnerable to heavy rain and temporary flooding.
