Gopanpally Building Demolition: A four storey building that suddenly tilted in Gopanpally’s NTR Nagar has become the focus of a major safety operation, with civic authorities moving ahead with its demolition.

The structure developed a noticeable lean on Friday, triggering panic among residents in the neighbourhood. People living inside and around the building were moved to safer locations after officials reached the spot and assessed the situation.

The building is located in the Gachibowli area and stands on a relatively small plot. Officials said the structure had been constructed without the required permission, and the civic body found it unsafe following an inspection. Reports put the plot size at around 50 square yards.

Once the building began leaning, access to the immediate area was restricted. Nearby residents were also asked to leave as a precaution because of the possibility of the structure becoming unstable.

Teams from the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, engineering and town planning departments, along with disaster response personnel, were involved in the response. Officials inspected the structure and its foundation before deciding that demolition was necessary.

The latest incident comes less than a month after a separate building collapse in nearby Anjaiah Nagar, where two people were killed. The earlier tragedy has added to concerns over structural safety in the Gachibowli region.

In Gopanpally, however, authorities were able to evacuate the occupants before the situation could turn into another major tragedy. Reports indicate that residents of the affected building and nearby structures were moved out as officials secured the area.

The civic authorities have advised people to stay away from the demolition zone until the operation is completed. The area around the structure remains restricted to prevent anyone from being exposed to falling debris or other risks during the work.
