Earthquake Jolts Bhadradri : A mild earthquake caused moments of anxiety in Bhadradri Kothagudem district during the early hours of Sunday, prompting residents in several areas to rush out of their homes. The tremors were felt around 2.30 am when most people were asleep, creating confusion and concern among local communities.
According to preliminary information from earthquake monitoring agencies, the tremor measured 3.8 on the Richter scale. While the intensity was relatively low, the sudden shaking was enough to alarm residents who reported feeling beds move and hearing unusual sounds inside their homes.
Many people immediately stepped outside and gathered in open spaces after sensing the ground shake. The unexpected disturbance created a tense atmosphere across several villages, with families waiting outdoors until they felt safe to return home.
Officials later confirmed that there were no reports of injuries, fatalities, or structural damage anywhere in the district. No houses collapsed and no major incidents were recorded as a result of the earthquake.
Experts noted that earthquakes of this magnitude generally do not cause significant destruction. However, the vibrations and underground rumbling were clearly noticeable, leading to temporary panic among residents.
The incident has also sparked discussions among locals, especially because Bhadradri Kothagudem is home to several coal mining and industrial zones. Despite the brief scare, authorities reassured the public that the situation remained under control and there was no immediate threat.
With no damage reported, both residents and district officials expressed relief after the tremors subsided, bringing normalcy back to the affected areas.
