Bandi Sanjay: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay has secured legal relief after the Special Court for Public Representatives in Nampally dismissed a case registered against him during the Huzurabad Assembly by election campaign. The court concluded that the allegations against him were not supported by sufficient evidence.
The case dates back to the Huzurabad by election, when Sanjay accused the then ruling BRS party of distributing large amounts of money to influence voters. He had alleged that the party was offering up to Rs 25000 per vote and claimed that only a small portion of the money was reaching voters while the remaining amount was allegedly being retained by party workers.
His comments sparked a major political controversy at the time and drew strong reactions from rival leaders. Following the remarks, Huzurabad police registered a case against him under multiple legal provisions.
After a prolonged legal process, the Nampally court examined the available material and found that there was no adequate evidence to substantiate the accusations made in the case against Sanjay. As a result, the court dismissed the proceedings and granted him relief.
The verdict marks the end of a case that remained pending since the by election period and is being viewed as a significant legal development for the Union Minister.
