Ganesh Immersion Holiday: The Telangana government has announced a holiday on September 25 in view of Ganesh immersion celebrations across Hyderabad and nearby areas.

The holiday will apply to educational institutions and government offices located within the limits of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal districts.

The decision has been taken considering the large scale movement of devotees and processions expected on the day of Ganesh immersion. The celebrations are likely to bring heavy traffic and increased public movement across several parts of the city.

State Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju issued the orders regarding the holiday. According to the government notification, September 25 will be observed as a holiday in the specified areas.

The government has also made an adjustment to the working calendar. November 14, which falls on the second Saturday, has been declared a working day in place of the holiday announced for September 25.

The arrangement is intended to ensure that the additional holiday does not affect the number of working days for government offices.

The Ganesh immersion is one of Hyderabad’s major annual religious events, with processions taking place across different parts of the city before idols are immersed at designated water bodies.

Large crowds are expected on the final day of the celebrations, particularly along major procession routes. The holiday is also expected to reduce routine movement on roads and help authorities manage traffic and public gatherings.

Schools, colleges and government offices within the areas covered by the order will remain closed on September 25. Institutions and offices outside the specified district limits will follow their respective schedules unless separate instructions are issued.

The government order comes as preparations for the immersion day continue across the city and surrounding districts.
