Punjab Kings player Shashank Singh and his father are facing a police investigation after a cook alleged assault abuse and wrongful confinement at their residence in Bhopal.

Shashank Singh Assault Case: Punjab Kings cricketer Shashank Singh and his father, retired IPS officer Shailesh Singh, have been booked following allegations that they assaulted a cook working at their residence in Bhopal. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation based on the complaint filed by the victim.
According to the complainant, Vipendra Singh Tomar from Rewa was recently hired to work as a cook at the family’s bungalow in the Neelbad area. He claimed he was offered a monthly salary of Rs 15000 along with free food and accommodation. He also alleged that he was promised assistance in securing a government job in the future.
The situation reportedly deteriorated within hours of joining work. The complainant alleged that he was verbally abused after his employers expressed dissatisfaction with the food he prepared. When he informed them that he wanted to leave the job and return to his hometown, the dispute allegedly escalated.
Vipendra Singh further claimed that his mobile phone was taken away to prevent him from contacting anyone. He alleged that he locked himself inside a room for safety, but Shashank Singh, his father, and their driver forced the door open and physically assaulted him.
Following the complaint, police arranged a medical examination, which reportedly confirmed injuries on the victim’s face and body. Based on the complaint and medical findings, Ratibad Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and said the investigation is currently underway. The incident has attracted significant attention in cricket circles.
