Rukmini Deepfake Case: Three Arrested in Rukmini Vasanth Deepfake Bikini Content Case

Police arrested three educated professionals for creating and sharing fake AI generated bikini images and videos of actress Rukmini Vasanth, citing personal gratification as the primary motive.

Rukmini Deepfake Case: Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the circulation of fake bikini images and videos of actress Rukmini Vasanth, who gained nationwide recognition through the film Kantara Chapter 2. Police revealed on Saturday that the accused admitted during questioning that they created and shared the manipulated content purely for personal amusement.

Investigators identified the accused as Ravikumar from Bagalkot, Chandrakant from Tirthahalli, and Ranjith Kumar from Bengaluru. The case has drawn attention because all three are highly educated professionals with established careers. Ranjith Kumar reportedly works as a software engineer with an annual salary of around Rs 20 lakh, while Chandrakant is employed as a Chartered Accountant at a reputed company. Ravikumar, who completed a BSc Nursing degree, allegedly used the content to attract more views to his YouTube channel.

The investigation began after Rukmini Vasanth filed a complaint stating that the fake images and videos had damaged her reputation and caused significant emotional distress. She also expressed concern over the misuse of artificial intelligence, emphasizing that technology should be used responsibly rather than for harmful activities.

Following the complaint, Cyber Crime Police registered cases against 29 social media accounts linked to the circulation of the content. Authorities contacted Meta to obtain account related information. Although the suspects had reportedly provided false addresses, investigators successfully tracked them through URL based digital evidence and online activity records.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to using AI tools to manipulate photographs of the actress and create fabricated visual content. Police have seized three high end mobile phones as part of the investigation.

A court has remanded the accused to judicial custody. Cases have been registered under multiple provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, while further investigation into the matter is continuing.
