Cheating Case Filed Against Tamil Actor Arya Over Alleged Rental Dues of Rs 1.80 Crore

A cheating case has been registered against Tamil actor Arya and members of the Ananthan Kaadu film team at the Jubilee Hills Police Station in Hyderabad following allegations of unpaid equipment rental charges.

The complaint was filed by Taher Cine Technique, a company that supplies advanced digital cameras and lighting equipment for film productions. The firm alleged that the production team failed to clear outstanding dues of more than Rs 1.80 crore after using its equipment for the film’s shooting.

According to the complainant, Arya and producer Vinod approached the company in February last year to rent high end cameras and lighting units for the production of Ananthan Kaadu. The total rental agreement was valued at Rs 2.12 crore. While a portion of the amount was reportedly paid, the company claimed that more than Rs 1.80 crore remains unpaid.

The company further stated that the filmmakers had given a written assurance that all pending dues would be settled and a No Dues Certificate would be obtained before the film’s release. However, it alleged that the team later stopped responding to phone calls and WhatsApp messages regarding the payment.

In the complaint, the company’s accountant Javed Ali also alleged that the firm’s manager was threatened by actor Arya, producer Vinod, and Arya’s personal assistant Kishore when they attempted to follow up on the outstanding payments. The complainant further claimed that the accused obtained interim orders from a court in Kerala while concealing relevant facts.

Based on the complaint, Jubilee Hills police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the allegations. Authorities are examining the matter and further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
