Infosys Public Services Chief Lax Gopisetty Goes Missing Amid Nepal Floods

Infosys says Lax Gopisetty, CEO of Infosys Public Services, remains unreachable after visiting Nepal personally, as rescue agencies continue efforts to locate those affected.

Infosys Public Services CEO Lax Gopisetty remains unreachable following the devastating floods in Nepal, according to a statement from Infosys.

The Bengaluru based IT services company said Gopisetty had travelled to the region for personal reasons. The company is now working with relevant authorities and agencies to gather information and establish contact with him.

Infosys said its immediate concern is the safety and well being of Gopisetty. The company is also staying in regular contact with his family and providing the support they need during the difficult situation.

The floods have caused widespread disruption along the Nepal Tibet border, with several Indian nationals also affected. The Ministry of External Affairs said around 320 Indians were still missing, while about 400 others were stranded on the Chinese side.

According to the MEA, 153 Indian nationals who had been stranded in China safely crossed into Nepal. Another 21 Indians reached New Delhi after travelling to Kathmandu from areas affected by the floods.

The Indian government has said it is prepared to provide all possible assistance to Nepal as rescue and relief operations continue.

Gopisetty has held senior leadership positions during his career in the technology and consulting sectors. At Infosys Public Services, he advises public sector organisations on strategy, technology, operations and digital transformation while overseeing the company’s overall strategy and execution.

Before becoming CEO of Infosys Public Services, he served as Global Vice President at Infosys and led its Business Applications and Digital Workspace Service. During that period, he worked on expanding the practice across the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Gopisetty previously worked as a Managing Director at Accenture, where he led part of its Health and Public Services business in North America. His earlier career also included senior roles at BearingPoint, IBM, PwC and HCL.

The situation remains closely watched as authorities continue efforts to locate missing people and assist those stranded by the floods. Infosys said its thoughts are with Gopisetty, his family and everyone affected by the disaster.
