Banks to Remain Closed for Nine Days in August Across India

Banks will observe nine holidays in August due to weekends national celebrations and festivals while digital banking services including ATMs mobile apps and UPI will continue without interruption.

Customers planning bank related work in August should check the holiday calendar in advance, as banks across India are scheduled to remain closed for a total of nine days during the month. The holidays include weekends, Independence Day and a major religious festival.

According to the announced schedule, banks will be closed on August 2, August 9, August 16, August 23 and August 30 as these dates fall on Sundays. In addition, August 8 and August 22 will be holidays as they are the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

Banks will also remain closed on August 15 to mark Independence Day. Another nationwide holiday is scheduled for August 25 on the occasion of Milad e Nabi.

People who need to visit bank branches for deposits, withdrawals, document verification or other in person services are advised to complete their work before the holiday dates to avoid inconvenience.

Although bank branches will remain closed on these days, digital banking services will continue to operate normally. Customers can use ATMs for cash withdrawals, mobile banking applications for account services and UPI platforms for instant money transfers and payments.

Online banking facilities and digital payment systems will remain available throughout the holiday period, allowing customers to carry out most routine financial transactions without visiting a bank branch.

With multiple holidays spread across the month, planning banking activities in advance can help customers avoid delays while continuing to rely on digital services for their everyday financial needs.
