August Movie Releases: Toxic Leads August 26 Releases as OTT Lineup Expands
The final week of August brings Yash’s Toxic to theatres along with new Telugu releases, while several films and web series are set to arrive across major OTT platforms.
August Movie Releases: The final week of August is shaping up to be a busy one for movie lovers, with a mix of highly anticipated theatrical releases and fresh OTT titles lined up across platforms.
Among the biggest releases is Toxic, starring Yash in the lead. The film has attracted considerable attention since it was announced, particularly because it marks Yash’s first major release after KGF and is directed by Geetu Mohandas.
Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria and Huma Qureshi are part of the cast. The promotional material has hinted at a dark action thriller with a strong visual style. After several postponements, the film is finally scheduled to hit theatres on August 26 in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi.
With bookings already open, the film is seeing strong interest from audiences. Toxic has a reported runtime of 3 hours and 14 minutes.
The same week also brings Kiku Chiranjeevi, featuring Kiku Yalamala and Kashish Khan in the lead roles. Directed by Shubhasai Venkat and produced by Deepti Nadiminti, the film is scheduled for release on August 28. Eeswar Rao, Tanikella Bharani, Goparaju Ramana and Srikant Iyengar are among the supporting cast.
Nayanthara will have another release this week with Hi, a family drama featuring Kavin. Directed by Vishnu, the film is backed by Zee Studios, The Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studios. K Bhagyaraj, Radhika Sarathkumar and Prabhu are also part of the cast. The Tamil and Telugu film is scheduled to release on August 28.
OTT releases this week
The OTT space is also getting several new additions during the final week of August.
Amazon Prime Video will stream Romance: The Last Sunrise on August 26, followed by the web series Babita Singh Reporting on August 28.
Netflix has Gaming, scheduled to arrive on August 27.
JioHotstar will premiere the web series Part Timers on August 28.
Meanwhile, ETV Win is set to release Newton’s Third Law on August 27.
With Toxic dominating theatrical attention and multiple digital releases arriving within a few days, audiences have plenty of options to choose from this week.
