Bangladesh Family Murder: Retired Hindu Teacher and Family Killed in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Family Murder: A retired Hindu teacher and three members of his family were found dead inside their home in Rangpur, Bangladesh, in a case that has left the local community shaken.

Police said the family had been living in the house for several years. The victims were identified as 65 year old Ganapati Chakraborty, his wife Pritilata, their daughter Agami and their 12 year old son Priyam.

The incident came to light after relatives became worried when repeated calls to the family went unanswered. Pritilata’s sister reportedly tried to contact her but found her phone switched off. When other family members also could not be reached, she alerted the police.

Officers arrived at the house on Saturday night and found it locked. After breaking open the doors, they discovered the four bodies in different parts of the property. Ganapati was found on the rooftop, while his wife and daughter were discovered near the staircase. The boy’s body was found under a bed inside the house.

According to Rangpur police commissioner Mohammad Abdul, the killings are believed to have taken place on Thursday night. Investigators suspect that two men entered the property to use drugs and were confronted by Ganapati after he noticed them.

Police believe the confrontation may have led to the attack. Ganapati was allegedly strangled, and his wife was killed after going upstairs when she heard a disturbance. The two children were subsequently attacked, according to the preliminary investigation.

Ganapati had retired from government teaching several years ago and was later practising homeopathy. The family had reportedly moved into the Rangpur house about four years ago.

Police have identified two suspects and are questioning them as part of the investigation. Authorities are also working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths and the motive behind the attack.
