Fairphone has expanded its smartphone lineup in the US with the new Fairphone Gen 6 Plus. The phone is aimed at buyers looking for a capable Android handset with repair friendly design and long term support.

The device is priced at 649 dollars, which is around 62,135 rupees. It is sold unlocked and supports AT&T and T Mobile networks in the US. Buyers can choose from Cobalt Blue, Forest Green and Horizon Black finishes.

The handset is available through Fairphone and Amazon. The company is also offering a five year warranty in the US, along with accessories such as protective cases, a flip case, cardholder, finger loop, lanyard and screen protector.

Bright LTPO AMOLED display

The Fairphone Gen 6 Plus features a 6.31 inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 1116 by 2484 pixel resolution. Its refresh rate can adjust between 10Hz and 120Hz, while peak brightness reaches 1400 nits.

The panel supports HDR10 and comes with Gorilla Glass 7i protection. An optical fingerprint scanner is built into the display.

Snapdragon processor with expandable storage

Powering the phone is the 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset with an Adreno 810 GPU. It is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Users who need more space can expand storage through a microSD card up to 2TB. The smartphone runs Android 16 out of the box.

50MP camera leads the rear setup

Photography is handled by a 50MP primary rear camera with an f/1.88 aperture, optical image stabilisation and electronic image stabilisation. It is accompanied by a 13MP OmniVision ultra wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture.

For selfies and video calls, Fairphone has added a 32MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The combination gives the phone a straightforward camera setup covering standard and wider shots.

4415mAh battery and durable build

The Gen 6 Plus packs a 4415mAh battery with support for 27W fast charging. The phone measures 156.57mm in height, 73.28mm in width and 9.6mm in thickness, with a weight of 193 grams.

It carries an IP55 rating for protection against dust and water. Fairphone also says the device can operate across temperatures ranging from minus 10 degrees Celsius to plus 55 degrees Celsius.

Connectivity includes WiFi 6E, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type C port.

With its five year warranty, expandable storage and high refresh rate AMOLED screen, the Fairphone Gen 6 Plus takes a slightly different approach to the crowded smartphone market. Its price puts it firmly in the mid range segment, while the long warranty could appeal to buyers planning to keep their phone for several years.
