RBI Likely to Keep Interest Rates Unchanged Bringing Relief to Loan Borrowers
Loan borrowers may continue to enjoy stable EMIs as the Reserve Bank of India is expected to leave policy interest rates unchanged while closely monitoring inflation global developments and domestic economic conditions.

Borrowers across the country could receive another round of relief as the Reserve Bank of India is widely expected to maintain its current policy interest rates. The Monetary Policy Committee began its three day meeting on Monday and will announce its decision after concluding discussions on Wednesday.
The committee, chaired by RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra, is reviewing several economic indicators before finalizing its policy stance. Inflation trends, global market conditions, crude oil price fluctuations, weather patterns and the possible impact of El Nino are among the key factors influencing the central bank’s decision.
Financial experts believe the RBI is likely to continue with the existing repo rate instead of introducing any changes. If the repo rate remains unchanged, banks are unlikely to revise lending rates, allowing existing borrowers to continue paying the same monthly EMIs without additional financial pressure.
The RBI conducts its Monetary Policy Committee meetings regularly to evaluate the country’s economic health and determine whether interest rates should be increased, reduced or maintained. The six member committee carefully studies inflation, economic growth and financial stability before making any decision.
During its previous policy review, the central bank also kept the policy rate unchanged at 5.25 percent. At the same time, it revised its retail inflation forecast for the 2026 27 financial year from 4.6 percent to 5.1 percent, while lowering the GDP growth projection from 6.9 percent to 6.6 percent.
With inflationary pressures and global uncertainties still present, analysts expect the RBI to adopt a cautious approach instead of making immediate changes to borrowing costs. For millions of home, vehicle and personal loan customers, a stable repo rate would mean continued relief from any increase in monthly loan repayments.
