PM Modi Extends Wishes for Historic Vikram 1 Launch

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished success to the Vikram 1 mission, calling it a landmark moment for India's private space sector and an inspiration for future innovators.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his best wishes to the Skyroot Aerospace team ahead of the launch of Vikram 1, India’s first privately developed orbital rocket. Describing the mission as a landmark achievement, he said it reflects the innovation, determination, and talent of the country’s young scientists and entrepreneurs.

Sharing his message on social media, the Prime Minister said the launch represents a new chapter in India’s space journey and highlighted the growing role of private companies in advancing the nation’s space ambitions. He expressed confidence that the mission would inspire the next generation of innovators.

Vikram 1 is scheduled for launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 11.30 am. Developed by Hyderabad based Skyroot Aerospace, the four stage launch vehicle has been designed to carry small satellites weighing up to 350 kilograms into Low Earth Orbit.

The rocket uses solid propulsion systems in its first three stages, while the final stage is powered by a liquid engine for precise orbital insertion. The maiden test flight aims to place payloads into a circular orbit at an altitude of around 450 kilometers.

The mission will carry multiple technology demonstration payloads, including equipment from Indian and international space companies. Skyroot Aerospace hopes the successful flight of Vikram 1 will strengthen India’s position in the global small satellite launch market and accelerate the growth of the country’s private space industry.
