Samsung AI Pet Care Feature Can Detect Possible Illnesses in Pets from Photos

Samsung has introduced an AI powered pet care feature at VivaTech 2026 that can analyze pet photos to identify early signs of possible health issues and support better everyday monitoring for pet owners

Samsung has taken another step into AI driven health innovation by unveiling a new feature designed specifically for pet owners. At VivaTech 2026, the company showcased an AI based Pet Care system developed in collaboration with the startup Lifet. The idea is simple yet powerful users can take a photo of their pet and the system will analyze it to detect early warning signs of potential health concerns.

According to Samsung, the AI can recognize indicators linked to dental problems, patellar luxation, cataracts and other visible conditions. While it does not replace veterinary diagnosis, it aims to give pet owners an early sense of when something may need medical attention, making routine care more proactive and informed.

To use the feature, Galaxy users will need the SmartThings app along with the Pet Care service installed on their devices. Lifet already offers a similar AI based pet image analysis tool through its platform, and it claims its system can identify certain conditions with up to 97 percent accuracy. Samsung is now integrating this capability into its wider ecosystem.

The company is positioning this innovation as part of a larger shift toward continuous health monitoring. Instead of limiting healthcare to hospitals or clinics, Samsung wants to bring everyday health awareness into connected devices. Galaxy smartphones, Galaxy Watch models, smart home products and Samsung Health are all being tied together to build this ecosystem.

Beyond pet care, Samsung also highlighted several other AI driven health features at the event. The Samsung Health platform is expanding into areas such as sleep tracking, physical activity, nutrition guidance, mental wellbeing and vital sign monitoring. New additions include Heart Health Score, improved workout metrics and enhanced vitals tracking designed to give users a more complete view of their health.

Samsung also mentioned its partnership with Xealth, which focuses on improving connectivity between Galaxy devices and healthcare services. The goal is to make it easier for doctors and patients to share and monitor health information outside traditional clinical environments, creating a more connected and continuous care experience.
